Beginning in 2023, ORIS is serving as an affiliate of Episcopal Migration Ministries to provide initial resettlement services in Worcester, MA. As a resettlement affiliate, ORIS receives families who have fled violence and persecution in their homes, have spent years in refugee camps around the world, and arrived in the US where they face language and cultural barriers to achieving self-sufficiency.
ORIS, working in partnership with volunteers from all segments of Worcester communities, welcomes new arrivals at the airport, identifies housing, provides basic food and household needs, registers children for school, links families to religious community groups, helps secure employment, and provides case management services. ORIS maintains connections with families from Day 1 in the US and maintains that relationship long-term as the family grows roots in their new home.
Volunteers and donations of goods are integral to meeting the needs of families as they resettle in Worcester.
